Understanding forgetfulness and dementia

This booklet, published in association with the British Medical Association, discusses loss of memory and when this may be a sign of something more serious. It describes dementia, the likely questions that a GP will ask when making a diagnosis, the specialists to whom a patient may be referred and the tests that may be carried out. There is a section about the practical aids that are available, and ideas about how to cope with some of the behavioural problems that may arise. There are references for further reading and a list of useful addresses. The content is the same as in the illustrated Dorling Kindersley version. Available in some pharmacies.
